POKOTABI / Sachiuo
幸魚(さちうお)
Akasaka's Sachiuo serves freshly caught seafood landed by the proprietress alongside carefully sourced fish. Enjoy fresh sashimi, fish fried to order in raw breadcrumbs, and seasonal seasoned rice, all prepared to let natural flavors shine.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A genuine commitment to presenting fish at its absolute peak guides every aspect of sourcing and preparation at Sachiuo in Akasaka. With catches landed by the proprietress herself alongside carefully chosen market seafood in prime condition, each visit sparks anticipation about what rare or seasonal fish might appear on the day's board. Rather than relying on heavy seasoning, the kitchen prepares each catch simply, allowing the fish's natural aroma, sweetness, and distinct texture to come directly to the fore.
The freshly fried fish is a standout: coated only after the order is placed, it is dredged in fresh panko breadcrumbs and fried quickly so the natural juices steam within the crisp crust. The resulting contrast between the tender, flaky fish and the light exterior makes an immediate impression. Alongside pristine sashimi, the meal is rounded out by seafood-steamed rice (takikomi gohan) and a warming bowl of miso soup to finish, satisfying any dedicated fish lover.
At lunch, the restaurant serves teishoku-style sets pairing a main dish with small seasonal sides, while the evening unfolds as an unhurried dinner where courses and individual seafood dishes can be savored one by one. Advance reservations are accepted. With welcoming and attentive service, diners can settle in comfortably and enjoy an authentic taste of coastal Japanese seafood in the heart of the city.
